Joye has a long history with Bernese Mountain Dogs. Her personal Berners who inspired such dedication to this breed:

Bern (April 21, 1985 to September 19, 1994) - Mast Cell Cancer.

Winston (January 8, 1998 to January 4, 2003) - Histiocytic Sarcoma.

Nicky (Christmas Day 2002 to April 23rd 2010) - Histiocytic Sarcoma.

Breeze (March 3rd 2010 to August 14th 2019) - Histiocytic Sarcoma and kidney failure.

Joye has been married to her husband Bill since 1962. Bill taught at the University of Pittsburgh in both the undergraduate and graduate Schools of Business - and was an Administrator and professor at Pitt from 1967 to 2013.

Their children are Gwen (married to Gary) and Jay (married to Kristy). Grandchildren are Ella, Gracie, Bella, Harley, Colton and Makenna.

Joye's hobbies include: Grandchildren, Berners, Berner fundraising, reading.

Joye's Education and Professional Experience:
Bachelor of Science (El. Ed.) - Univ. of Pittsburgh - 1961.
Masters Ed. (El. Ed.) - Univ. of Pittsburgh - 1965.

Joye taught third and first grade from 1961 to 1968. In 1977 she became a Realtor and then managed a 100 real estate agent office. Joye retired after 25 years as Relocation Director for Coldwell Banker - Pittsburgh, and now refers people to buy or sell homes to Realtors all over the USA and Canada.
